GO Fellowship In partnership with AmeriCorps

Position Summary

As a GO AmeriCorps Fellow, you will play an integral role in the school community by providing small groups of students individualized instruction, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities each day in an AmeriCorps service position. You will serve groups of elementary, middle or high school students Monday-Friday and some weekends- an average service day lasting 9 hours.

For our CUNY ASAP|ACE students interested in becoming GO Fellows, our program can be more flexible to best accommodate your needs.

You will gain professional and personal experience and acquire transferable skills during the GO Fellowship. The ideal site placement for ASAP|ACE students would be NYC, however, you could potentially serve in any one of our partner schools from Delaware to Connecticut- all of which share our mission and values.

ASAP students looking to take a gap semester or 2 before entering the ACE program, or ACE students looking for service opportunity that could help fund continuing their education via the Segal Education award are ideal candidates, but if you are unsure apply and speak to a dedicated recruiter.

AmeriCorps Living Allowance

The AmeriCorps Living Allowance and number of pay cycles may vary based on your assigned start date and location. Here is the estimated pre-tax living allowance amount: Biweekly payments ranging from $700 - $800. The official living allowance total and/or bi-weekly payments will be posted on all offer letters.

Key Responsibilities

Instruct for Mastery- Fellows deliver individualized small-group instruction to students in the context of a supportive relationship, resulting in a significant increase in math and ELA achievement. As a Fellow, you will:

  • Provide daily small-group instruction (tutoring) to students in Math and/or English Language Arts for an average of four (45 minute) periods a day
  • Support students in class, during after-school programming and/or Saturday Academy
  • Work with students and teachers to set individualized and student driven academic goals
  • Assess student academic progress and effectively use data to inform instruction

Mentor for Leadership- Fellows provide fundamental support to students’ social emotional growth. Fellows help empower students to evolve into leaders. As a Fellow, you will:

  • Provide daily mentorship to students in formal and informal settings
  • Work with students to set individualized student-directed social-emotional goals
  • Develop relationships with families through weekly communications

Develop a Community- Fellows contribute to the development of the school and surrounding communities. As a Fellow, you will:

  • Support the development of an enriching school by engaging with students during transitions, lunch and school-wide events
  • Participate in service days such as 9/11 Day of Service and Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service
  • Lead or support after-school clubs and sports programming


You are qualified to apply if you meet the following requirements:

  • Earned an Associate’s degree or higher prior to the start of service
  • Citizenship or legal Permanent Residency status in the United States (AmeriCorps requirement)
  • Served no more than three previous AmeriCorps service terms (AmeriCorps National requirement)

GO AmeriCorps Fellow Teacher Residency

The Teacher Residency is a pathway to teaching created for GO AmeriCorps Fellows. Each year, 10% of Fellows are selected to participate in an embedded Masters of Art in Teaching program. As a Teacher Resident, you can enroll in one of our partner graduate programs, working alongside a Mentor Teacher while gradually taking on teaching responsibility. The GO Foundation requires all staff members and GO Fellows to obtain and submit evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination. This decision was made to keep all staff, Fellows and students safe as we return to in-person. New hires will be able to start working with one dose of the vaccine as long as the second dose (where applicable) is scheduled within a month of the person’s start date.
