Godfrey Dadich Partners (GDP) combines the best of strategy, journalism, design, marketing, and digital to build story-driven brands. Our group includes Upstatement, a digital product studio, and Ghost Note, a brand and community creative studio.

We’re looking for an art director to serve as a central creative contributor, responsible for concepting and designing brand storytelling efforts across advertising, brand identity, and digital experiences.

You’re a multifaceted and curious creative with a mind for strategy and an eye for the tiniest design detail. A multi-platform thinker by default, you’re interested in the unique opportunities each medium and media buy provides. You understand that concept and execution are inseparable when it comes to design, and know how to execute both at the highest level—whether creating original artwork or collaborating with a top-tier network of production partners.

You’re a skilled visual communicator and marketing leader with 4+ years of experience working as a designer and art director—conception, directing, pitching, and winning campaigns. Never hesitate to jump in with a colleague to generate ideas, you’re both a leader and a collaborator driving the creative process forward. Always setting ego aside in favor of making the best work possible, you can bring together a team of contributors across departments to drive success. Whatever the brief, you seek to build an authentic connection with the audience to drive outsized business results.

Projects will include—but not be limited to—comprehensive campaign development from concept through to production and launch; advertising display across formats and media, promotional, and social media; brand identity systems; broadcast, video, digital, and motion graphics; digital experiences from the web to app; pitch decks and client keynotes; and GDP-owned editorial, case studies, and self-promotion.

This role is based in San Francisco and is in-person Tuesday to Thursday at our 564 Pacific Ave. studio, with the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Working in partnership with a creative director, leading projects from concept to delivery across a wide range of formats: advertising, social, events, video, web, editorial, brand identity, and whatever else might come down the road.
  • Balancing multiple projects and timelines with the ability to prioritize.
  • Skilled communication with the client. This role requires conveying the intent of the work to our partners.
  • Inspiring, mentoring, and motivating a group of creatives with a diverse set of backgrounds and skill sets.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with a diverse mix of teams, balancing the needs of stakeholders, and always seeking opportunities to elevate our work.
  • Working closely with the CEO and leadership to generate communications systems for, by, and about GDP, including owned, social, and live-event platforms.

Qualifications Include:

  • 3+ years experience in an advertising agency environment, with a majority of those years devoted to creating innovative brand campaigns and initiatives, as well as brand identity systems.
  • A love for the craft of advertising and brand storytelling, in all forms—all standing on a solid, fundamental foundation: great design.
  • Highly collaborative and resourceful. An entrepreneurial mindset, able to blaze trails as needed.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to convey concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • A deep interest in defining brand design systems. Whether it’s typography, photography, grid systems, or color, you draw inspiration from a wide range of creative outlets and bring that to your daily work.
  • Basic understanding of interaction design best practices when designing for digital environments.
  • Demonstrated fluency with design tools including the full suite of Adobe Creative Cloud and Sketch. Experience directing motion and broadcast. Competency working in Keynote and GSuite products. Figma and AfterEffects a plus.

Godfrey Dadich is an organization dedicated to ideas, processes, and vision. But we know that true success comes from people. We’re always looking for new collaborators who believe optimism is a strategy for making a better future, and we recognize that great stories come from people with all manner of backgrounds and experiences. We’re committed to building a more diverse and inclusive team; we value different points of view and welcome unconventional paths. If your experience doesn’t entirely conform to the qualifications listed above, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the GDP team.

The salary range for this role is $88,000-$100,000.

Our salary offers take into consideration the skills and experience a candidate brings, pay equity across similar roles within GDP, and the market rate for similar roles outside of GDP. Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
