Godfrey Dadich Partners (GDP) combines the best of strategy, journalism, design, marketing, and digital to build story-driven brands. Our group includes Upstatement, a digital product studio, and Ghost Note, a brand and community creative studio. 

As a copywriter, you will develop world-class creative that unlocks a brief and thoughtfully engages audiences amid a landscape of fragmented attention. The ideal candidate will be a curious self-starter who is motivated to develop their craft and who collaborates enthusiastically with teammates across advertising, design, strategy, film, and editorial practices.

This role is based in San Francisco and is in-person Tuesday to Thursday at our 564 Pacific Ave. studio, with the option to work remotely Mondays and Fridays.

The Role

As a copywriter, you will be responsible for creating original and inventive ideas that communicate the distinct points of view and values of our clients. You will also:

  • Generate compelling creative ideas that push beyond the expected, utilizing the tools of the written word as your primary medium. 
  • Collaborate with creative partners, melding visual and textual communication to deliver on an idea.
  • Present and workshop your work with internal and external teams, articulating the mechanics of the idea and seeking out feedback to strengthen it.
  • Explore the interplay between copywriting and journalism that’s at the heart of building story-driven brands.

What You’ll Do

  • Generate concepts and craft copy across a wide range of marketing and brand contexts, including: video, radio, digital banners, billboards, print, social, verbal identity, messaging maps, brand narratives, and more.
  • Work with high-impact B2B and B2C clients across categories, often with a focus on technology, innovation, and creating a better future.
  • Articulate technical ideas with specificity and in a compelling, easily digestible manner.
  • Partner with designers and art directors who prioritize inventive concepts and rigorous craft in equal measure.
  • Collaborate with journalists in our editorial practice to learn new techniques and devise new ways to connect with our target audiences.

About You

  • 4+ years of experience in a copywriting role within an agency and/or in-house studio environment.
  • A compelling portfolio that demonstrates strategically minded copywriting and concepting across a variety of campaigns and initiatives.
  • A collaborative mindset that balances creative conviction with a low ego and puts great outcomes ahead of personal wins.
  • Excellent time management skills, adept at balancing multiple projects and proactively navigating tight timelines or competing priorities.
  • A love for the craft of advertising and brand storytelling in all forms.

The salary for this role is $80,000.

Our salary offers take into consideration the skills and experience a candidate brings, pay equity across similar roles within GDP, and the market rate for similar roles outside of GDP. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant, along with the requirements of the position.
