Location: This position can be hybrid remote and out of the Tempe, AZ location or fully remote.  At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days)and some work entirely remotely. This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and atour Tempe office, so you should live within commuting distance from the office. Hybrid teamsmay work in office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter. The hiringmanager can share more about what the future of work might look like for this team. Due to COVID-19, you’ll work remotely from day one until it’s safe for you to return to the office. Our leadershipmonitors local conditions and will communicate return to work plans as we approach reopening forthe Tempe office.  This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Colorado, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

As a Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for all US domestic federal and state income tax matters pertaining to compliance and reporting.  This position will work closely with other interdependent teams within the Global tax organization and other internal GoDaddy corporate groups. You will work with a team of tax professionals supporting a fast-growing, globally expanding Company whose mission is to help small businesses.  You will work under the direct supervision of our Tax Director.  Proximity to GoDaddy’s office in Tempe AZ is preferred.

What you'll get to do...

  • Manage the annual corporate income tax compliance process, including in-house preparation of all U.S. federal and state income tax returns among multiple entity groups
  • Coordinate with related partnership tax returns and corporate Up-C public company structure
  • Oversee the company’s R&D tax credit program including related forecasting and reserve calculations. Coordinate with external advisors for credit calculations.
  • Manage the domestic team staff and implement multiple projects simultaneously with proper allocation of team resources to meet deadlines
  • Analyze the tax impacts of various book/tax differences including deferred revenue and deferred costs, fixed assets and intangibles, stock-based compensation, debt financing, inventory, and foreign CFC’s and CTB elections
  • Assist external advisors with maintenance of partner tax capital accounts, outside basis and adjustments such as section 704(b), 704(c), 743(b) deductions, and other partnership impacts
  • Manage tax basis balance sheets and book/tax basis tracking among partnership and corporate entities
  • Manage the company’s state tax footprint with nexus and filing methods among varied state filing groups
  • Manage taxable income projections and forecasts of cash tax payments with tax savings strategies
  • Manage US federal and state income tax audits along with information requests, proposed adjustments, and issue resolutions
  • Support the team on company acquisitions and integration of tax and business procedures of acquired companies
  • Work closely with the international tax team on partner programs and intercompany activity related to foreign information reporting
  • Work closely with the Global tax team in leading US tax compliance and tax return process improvements and documentation enhancements
  • Serve as a liaison with Finance, Accounting, Treasury and Legal lines of business and other internal partners to ensure appropriate management of tax reporting and risk
  • Develop and implement automation procedures to streamline the tax compliance processes while strengthening related SOX controls
  • Research complex tax issues, prepare technical documentation and assist on special projects and provide assistance as needed
  • Other work-related tasks / ad-hoc reporting as needed

Your experience should include...

  • 8+ years of experience in taxation in a large corporate environment, Big 4 accounting firm, or a combination of both
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly in Excel
  • Experience with OneSource Income Tax or equivalent software
  • Experience with tax research tools BNA, RIA, and/or CCH
  • Experience with Alteryx and related ETL tools desired by not required
  • Experience with Workday ERP system desired but not required
  • Demonstrated problem solving and leadership ability
  • Ability to work on cross functional activities and form solid business relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to operate in multi-task and deadline driven environment, to work independently and to effectively manage staff
  • Clear effective communication skills to run processes and meetings while having the ability to explain complex concepts in a concise way
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment
