The role

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to join the Risk Monitoring engineering team in our Riga office. This team focuses on our risk monitoring tooling, allowing us to identify fraudulent and risky behaviour. In effect, this helps to protect GoCardless from hostile and reckless actors.

First and foremost, coding! Our Engineering Managers still contribute to the codebase on a daily basis. While the team mostly works in Ruby we’re comfortable with candidates skilled in similar languages who are willing to learn!

This is an ideal opportunity for a strong technical leader looking to stretch into a more formal management position, collaborating as a dual-lead with the Product Manager, and gaining a lot of exposure to stakeholders across the business in London and Riga.

The team integrates with various risk management tools to empower our Risk Strategy teams to create rules and models that detect patterns of behaviour. We’re looking to further integrate these systems so they can automatically take action to prevent risky activity on our platform.

The team has already demonstrated a significant impact, saving GoCardless significant amounts of money, and reducing risk exposure by millions.

Salary range - the expected base salary range for this position is between €6,700€8,100 (gross).

Base salary ranges may vary and are determined by things like geography, level of experience, interview assessment and parity between you and fellow employees at GoCardless doing similar work. Please note that whilst we strive to offer competitive compensation, there is no guarantee that an offer will reach the upper limit of the stated range.
