Today we help over 50,000 businesses across the UK and Europe collect payments and we’re growing fast. International expansion is one of our key priorities; we’ve recently opened in France, Germany and Australia with plans for further expansion.

 

The role

This rotational role will give you a unique opportunity to gain experience across our three core Finance functions over your first three years with us. 

You’ll spend 12 months in each of our core Finance functions:

 

Strategic Planning and Analysis

Strategic Planning & Analysis is all about stepping-back and looking at the bigger picture.

The team focuses on:

  • Long-term Plan: what does GoCardless want to achieve over the next 5 years and what are the financial targets we want to hit in order to do so
  • Strategic analysis: using financial analysis to answer a broad range of questions with the ultimate goal of connecting our analytical findings with their strategic implications

You can expect to be:

  • Performing rigorous analysis to pinpoint practical recommendations
  • Conducting research on markets, competitors and customers
  • Collaborating with team members (both within Finance and other Departments) to transform research and analysis into thoughtful insights that deliver maximum impact

 

Management Reporting and Analysis

Management Reporting and Analysis aims to understand and guide the short-term performance of GoCardless. The team focuses on:

  • Budgeting and forecasting: setting short-term targets across the business
  • Monthly and weekly management reporting: understanding how the business is performing against targets and providing commercial guidance where needed
  • Business Partnering: providing commercial decision support and analysis to stakeholders across the business

You can expect to be:

  • Preparing weekly / monthly performance reports to determine how departments are performing against targets
  • Building financial models to inform quarterly forecasting and annual budgets
  • Preparing monthly billing and support the transition to automated billing



Financial Control and Reporting

Financial Control and Reporting are responsible for the day to day processing of Finance as well as the preparation of the monthly and annual accounts. The team covers a wide range of tasks from processing invoices, payments, expenses and credit cards to the Financial Audit and lots in between.

You can expect to be:

  • Processing supplier invoices, preparing payments and dealing with supplier queries
  • Helping to establish our recurring costs database
  • Improving the accounts payable process and strengthening controls



The Finance department is in an exciting transitional stage with many new projects to get involved in as the company expands. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to start a career in Finance, gain experience across a broad range of projects, work with teams from across the business and, ultimately, decide where to focus after finishing the graduate program

  • A recent graduate from a Finance related degree
  • A self starter who can work with minimal guidance
  • Numerically strong with excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • A confident communicator, both verbally and in writing, who enjoys working with a wide range of people
  • Open, flexible and eager to develop new skills
  • Ambitious and enthusiastic to develop a career in Finance at Gocardless
  • Interested in becoming CIMA/ACCA qualified (we will financially support you in this process)
