Reporting to the Director, Product Education, the Senior (Sr.) Technical Writer is responsible for developing a variety of technical and user guides that includes but is not limited to online help content, user guides, job aids, product release notes, implementation and technical integration guides, data flow/system architecture diagrams and support decision trees, for a SaaS company in the healthcare industry. The Sr. Technical Writer interviews subject matter experts to develop and update materials and must be skilled in using the online Help authoring tool, MadCap Flare. The Sr. Technical Writer works closely with product managers, system developers, quality assurance engineers, implementation consultants, and integration engineers to understand and create deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibits proficiency in writing technical documents, user instructions, data flow diagrams, proposals, and release communications
- Plans, develops, organizes, writes, and edits content for online Help, product guides, job aids, implementation guides, release notes, and web content for internal and external customers
- Assumes responsibility for managing one or more product areas
- Researches and gathers technical and background information for inclusion in product documentation
- Participates in product development and reviews to ensure GHX software products are easy to use
- Contributes to the design of a comprehensive documentation and technical writing program that effectively communicates how to integrate, implement and use GHX solutions
- Conducts needs analysis with internal stakeholders to identify teams’ needs
- Works with technical staff to develop documentation requirements
- Participates in user interface design reviews, as requested
- Manages the translation process for education deliverables, as requested
- Research industry best practices and advise management of process improvements that could save time and money
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders, including product management, implementation and development teams, to ensure a smooth and timely transition of information out to customers
- Leads special projects related to the development of online educational content
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel
- Ability to contribute different thoughts, ideas and viewpoints that lead to greater innovation on projects and cross-functional collaborative efforts.
Key Skills/Competencies:
- Proficient in MadCap Flare Help authoring tool
- Experience with source control solutions (MadCap Central, Perforce, SourceSafe)
- Proficient in standard Windows-based applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Experience with collaboration software (Confluence by Atlassian)
- Proficient in screen-capture technology (SnagIt, MadCap Capture, Snipping Tool)
- Experience with a flowcharts or diagrams tool (Lucidchart, Visio)
Required Education, Certifications, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, or combination of education and equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of experience in related field
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
- Excellent interviewing skills
- Customer-driven attitude and demeanor
- Proficiency and knowledge of working with various types of systems and system interfaces
- Ability to quickly synthesize new technology and present it in a concise, meaningful manner
- Ability to think independently and solve problems with minimal supervision

- Able to work in a team environment with all levels of personnel
- Comfortable learning new systems and system interfaces quickly

Estimated salary range: $78,000 - $104,000
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the GHX’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base salary is one component of GHX’s total compensation package for employees.
