JOB DESCRIPTION:

Glean is looking for a talented Head of Quality Assurance to join our rapidly expanding, VC-backed startup. Glean is the work assistant with intuition. As the Head of QA, you would be responsible for all aspects of Quality Assurance at Glean, from setting up test strategies and processes to managing qualification of all product releases to building a world class QA team.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and oversee the entire Quality Assurance (QA) organization, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives and quality standards.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product, both from a customer’s perspective and its underlying technical principles and architecture
  • Work with geographically diverse cross functional teams to define and implement the QA charter, outlining the vision, mission, and key objectives of the QA department, ensuring it supports the overall goals of the product and engineering teams.
  • Spearhead the expansion of the QA team's scope and capabilities, identifying new areas for growth and ensuring the team adapts to evolving product and market needs.
  • Drive the adoption of automation within the QA processes, championing the development and implementation of automated testing frameworks and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the execution of backend (BE) and frontend (FE) releases, ensuring a consistent release schedule of two releases per week, while maintaining high-quality standards. Also manage QA for browser extensions, mobile and desktop apps.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, and continuous professional development of the QA team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the QA team, assisting in resolving complex issues and promoting best practices in software testing.
  • Manage the QA team which comprises 20+ QA engineers currently and help employees grow through career development, coaching, and mentoring while guiding senior engineers to maximize their potential. You'll provide a clear path for progression through personal development plans, defining goals, perform evaluations, and collaborate with employees on their objectives; retain top talent
  • Be the voice of quality at the company and champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement with a metrics driven culture
  • Implement multiple checks and balances within the team to ensure quality high productive work is being performed while averting the risk of burnout via efficient time management

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS CS/EE or equivalent with 15+ years of industry experience, of which 5+ years is in QA Management
  • Preferable experience with SaaS enterprise software qualification built and delivered on any of AWS or Azure or GCP
  • Experience with fast paced development involving qualification of multiple releases a week
  • Experience building and cultivating strong quality practices and processes
  • Experience in hiring and developing teams
  • Experience in managing teams involved in different types of testing, both manually and via automated tests
  • Experience in Search domain a plus
