The Goundskeeping Team at Givens Highland Farms, a nationally recognized nonprofit continuing care retirement community, is looking for a full-time crew member to join our team Landscape Team. In this role you will be working with our Landscape Team, performing various grounds tasks for the purpose of providing well kept, safe, and beautiful grounds for our residents. This is an exciting opportunity to channel your knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents and team members.
Flexible Schedule: 7:00am - 5:30pm, Four days a week OR 8:00am - 4:30pm, Mon-Fri
What You'll do:
- Install trees, shrubs, and perennials according to landscape designs and plans
- Apply mulch to garden beds and around trees and shrubs for weed suppression and moisture retention
- Deadhead flowers and prune shrubs to maintain aesthetic appeal and promote healthy growth
- Create new flower beds by digging, edging, and amending soil as necessary
- Perform hardscaping tasks such as installing pathways, patios, and retaining walls using appropriate materials and techniques
- Assist the Land Management Team with their tasks & responsibilities when necessary
- Remain on-call during periods of inclement weather to promptly remove snow & ice
- Assist Land Management crews with their responsibilities when necessary
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients to coordinate tasks and address any concerns or issues
- Adhere to established schedules and deadlines, completing assigned tasks efficiently and effectively
What you'll need:
- Valid North Carolina driver's license
- Two years of previous experience relating to lawn care
- Knowledge of landscaping practices & procedures
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
- Technical or vocational training is desirable but not required
Compensation: $19.00 - $20.50, depending on experience plus our amazing benefits package!
