The GitHub Shop is the steward of iconic GitHub memorabilia that excites our customers and superfans, builds pride and belonging with Hubbers, and helps to accelerate our sales motions. The Shop team manages the design, production and fulfillment of our external Retail Shop, our internal employee “Hubber” Shops (virtually and at select offices), and partners with a number of additional GitHub teams to facilitate the design, production, and fulfillment of Customized Product lines and supporting microsites.
We are currently searching for an experienced Merchandising Manager to create, oversee, and implement merchandising strategies and processes that successfully support the needs of our customers.
The Senior Merchandising Manager will plan and direct the day-to-day operations of The Shop, develop strategies and processes to improve production, fulfillment, sustainability and quality, drive store usage, manage budgets, and create store policies that will increase sales, delight customers, and grow the existing customer base.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the planning and implementation of merchandising strategies to ensure the production of high quality and sustainable products
- Forecast inventory demands to minimize outages and costs across the retail, employee and custom shops
- Negotiate with suppliers for fair prices, terms and conditions, and fulfillment
- Analyze data to improve ordering efficiencies and optimize unit and storage costs
- Prepare annual and quarterly budgets and sales forecasts
- Track inventory movement and systematically introduce promotions, sales, price changes, etc. that move merchandise and align with company, team and Shop values
- Collaborate with the shop program manager to brainstorm new products, projects, campaigns, and merchandising runs
- Interpret reports and provide guidance on how to improve customer engagement, production, storage, and fulfillment
- Ensure key offices and Executive Briefing Centers are adequately stocked and well maintained
- Identify key insights from campaign and collection data, and trends, to determine relevant consumer, brand or marketing implications for the Shop
- Conduct research, both primary and secondary, to deliver true consumer insight; conduct stakeholder, consumer and prospect interviews
Requirements:
- 5-8 years' related experience running an IRL and/or virtual shop
- Proven ability in merchandising and/or Retail Strategy
- An understanding and passion for retail marketing and/or experience with retail brands and marketing teams
- Highly collaborative with ability to build partnerships across different teams and people
- Innate curiosity with an ability to connect insights and gain inspiration from disparate sources
- Fantastic presenter and storyteller; able to present complex ideas clearly
- Solid understanding of how the analytics function and its output affects planning and strategic insights
- Experience contributing to brand positioning and applying customer insight to the development of marketing campaigns
- Experience in conducting/contributing to primary research and expertise in secondary research analysis
- Comfortable working in highly flexible, ever changing entrepreneurial environments
(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $89,200 to maximum $189,300 + bonus + equity + benefits.
