The Platform team builds and maintains foundational authorization services and abstractions that power our products. We are responsible for the scalability and reliability of critical services that are used across GitHub and we advise engineering and product teams on how to best build their features upon our services. Our engineering organization is highly distributed. We expect you to have strong written communication skills and be able to build working relationships with coworkers in locations around the globe.


  • Write robust, maintainable backend code
  • Review code and participate in group discussions
  • Improving the scalability and performance for our platform
  • Advise engineering and product teams on integrating with our services to build their features

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience building building applications at scale
  • Experience with relational databases
  • Experience with Golang
  • Knowledge of standard methodologies: monitoring, alerting, metrics
  • Ability to empathize with a wide range of engineers
  • Strong written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Remote work experience
  • Experience building systems to support large-scale Authorization
  • Experience with Ruby
