GitHub is looking for an experienced communications expert to join the team to support our security and policy PR program. As a part of the Communications team, this person will support existing PR activities, and also build and manage dedicated programs. A key part of the role is to elevate our security message, manage rapid response and critical issues comms, and work closely with internal teams on proactive and reactive communications. This includes partnering with the security, policy, and marketing teams to support announcements and campaigns; supporting event PR programs; engaging with agencies worldwide; and working collaboratively with the Internal Comms, Content, and Analyst Relations teams. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships with key media, experience working with external agencies, and an excitement to be part of a global Communications team that represents GitHub as the home for all developers.
- 7-10 years of technology PR experience
- Experience in security and/or policy communications
- Ability to develop strategic plans in partnership with the Communications team and internal stakeholders, and execute independently
- Experience working with technology, business, and trade media to achieve communications goals
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organization and project management skills, and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects
- Experience working with PR agencies and contractors
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
