GitHub is looking for a hands-on engineering manager to lead a team of infrastructure software engineers. This team develops and operates the runtime platform that enables our GitHub teammates to create, deploy, scale, debug, and run applications on Kubernetes. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of infrastructure developers to empathetically and pragmatically meet real operability needs of GitHub developers
  • Work with product managers to align team activities and individual career growth with internal customer needs and business priorities
  • Maintain and strengthen a team culture of inclusion, growth, honesty, and psychological safety
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to advocate for our platform and seek out user feedback

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a people manager or software engineering lead
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience building and supporting internal infrastructure and tools
  • An orientation towards product development and an emphasis on user experience
  • Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a distributed team
  • A track record of developing engineering talent
  • Experience operating highly available systems at scale
  • Technical writing skills
