Position Overview:

We're seeking a highly motivated and flexible Legal Expert to join our vibrant startup. This role involves steering legal and compliance matters, ensuring we adhere to legal standards and in-house policies as we navigate the largely unexplored terrain of space robotics. The successful candidate will combine a keen understanding of the law with an innovative, can-do spirit that mirrors our pioneering approach to space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directory communicates with CXOs and contributes to company strategy from the legal point of view.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or address potential legal and policy breaches.
  • Review, interpret, and advise on Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Purchase Orders (POs) from US government agencies.
  • Continuously improve the efficiency of these controls, displaying the flexibility to adapt to a rapidly evolving business and regulatory landscape.
  • Regularly review procedures and reports to identify hidden risks or non-compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to monitor and enforce standards and regulations.
  • Proactively assess future ventures for potential compliance risks, embodying the forward-thinking ethos of GITAI.
  • Foster a culture of integrity and legal compliance throughout the organization.
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments within and outside the company, as well as best practices in compliance control.
  • Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Working experience in a hardware startup company
  • Law degree (J.D.) from a recognized university and a current license to practice law.
  • Minimum 3 years of securities/corporate law experience at a law firm and/or as an in-house legal counsel.
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience in technology, space industry, or a related field is required.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide sound business judgment.
  • Extensive experience in reviewing, interpreting, and advising on RFPs and POs, particularly those from government agencies.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deep knowledge of US foreign investment and export controls, especially International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Broad legal knowledge of government contracts, commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, and intellectual property.
  • Proven experience in a compliance officer role.

Salary/Pay

  • $200,000 - $250,000/year

 

Salary for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
