The Company

Gimlet Media tells stories through audio. Fast Company called us one of the top 10 most innovative media companies in the world. We’re looking for ambitious, curious, talented and kind people to join our team.

The Internship

The Nod is a weekly podcast. We report true, surprising stories about Black culture. You can listen to some recent episodes here.

We need a fall intern. That person could be you. We’re looking for someone who likes thinking about what makes stories interesting, and how to reorganize them to make them better. The Nod’s intern should like collaboration and hard work. If you have experience with podcasting, digital audio editing, or radio journalism, that’s great too!

This role is essential to the success of The Nod team.

We want someone who loves:

  • Tying up all the loose ends that take a project over the finish line
  • Emailing total strangers
  • Digging up facts
  • Transcribing interviews
  • Creating content for social and engaging with listeners
  • Participating in group edits
  • Helping us do whatever it takes to make the best stories we can

We want someone who has:

  • A love of collaboration, communication, and constant improvement
  • An ability to manage multiple projects
  • A keen eye for detail
  • A determination to find the fact, book the guest, or get the answer
  • A desire to make great stories
  • Some experience working in a media environment
  • Protools experience is a big bonus!

This is a paid, full-time internship based in our Brooklyn, NY offices and will run October to December.

This posting will close on Tuesday, September 26 at 5:00pm ET.

To apply, please submit:

  1. A resume
  2. A cover letter
  3. One paragraph on your favorite moment from a podcast you recently listened to and why
  4. A pitch (no longer than two paragraphs) of one story about Black culture. Tell us the story the way you’d tell it to a friend. Tell us who you would want to interview for the story, and tell us why it’s interesting and surprising to you.
  5. One paragraph on something you watched, read, or heard recently that could have/should have been amazing, that came so close, but for one big problem. Tell us the problem and how you’d change it.
