ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Fabrication and Machine Shop Supervisor at GILLIG, you will be making a daily impact in a stable company within a critical US infrastructure industry.
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Production Supervisor to oversee the Fabrication and Machine Center in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You are responsible for safely and efficiently leading our internal Fabrication and Machine Center. This position is responsible for all aspects of leading and managing a staff of approximately 15 - 20 union employees.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
Coach and mentor union employees; initiating and administering systems, policies and procedures in accordance with company policies and union agreements
Ensure proper training, safe and orderly working conditions, and efficient use of labor, material and tools.
Optimize material flow by monitoring steps of the manufacturing process personnel and resources.
Monitor operations to improve methods, avoid delays, and reduce waste
Participate in root cause analysis seeking problem resolution. Recommend, implement and maintain corrective action with a continual focus on process improvement
Initiate or approve related requests for equipment or staff assistance
Expertly manage competing priorities
Work closely with multiple departments, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, Sales and Warehouse to optimize GILLIG’s internal Supply Chain
Ensure the continuous improvement of quality, service and total cost in support of our business goals.
Perform other duties as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma
Minimum 8 years Fab/Machine Shop experience
Minimum 4 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Professional knowledge of industrial safety procedures, shop operations, fabrication and machine shop equipment
Read and interpret technical drawings of components and weldments
Strong problem-solving skills, organization skills, and attention to detail
Proficiency in software systems such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ERP systems a plus
Ability to create, analyze and make decisions based off large amounts of data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge and understanding of G Code
Experience with Trumpf equipment and CNC routers preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Assignments are complex and broad in scope requiring outstanding creativity, superior initiative, judgment, and leadership
Overtime as needed to include 3-4 mandatory Saturday work days
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally kneel or squat
