My first week on the job was at Gigs Republic. I was pretty nervous, but everyone was so kind and welcoming when I just showed up out of nowhere. People here are very experienced and calm, compared to other startups. That doesn’t mean they’re not as driven and determined as others! But it leads to superior results while keeping stress levels lower.

I'm inspired by how consistent our Gigs 'Mission & Vision' presentation is. It feels like with every passing month the company doubles down on what we’re building and grows in confidence about the market need and demand for our service.

Working at Gigs is downright fun. Not only am I surrounded by an incredible group of impressive colleagues, but I'm learning new things about the industry and tech stack every day. I love having the flexibility and go getter mindset of a startup, however Gigs also has processes and structure in place to ensure we're supported and have the ability to grow.

At no point did I think Gigs lacked for talent. But it’s been a pleasant surprise just how impressive the talent is here. There is a seemingly endless pool of knowledge within this team; I'm excited to see what we're able to accomplish with that at our disposal. I’ve learned a lot from Tim, Kyle and Rafa on customer dynamics, and Arthur and Alex on our products. I could go on and on.

What surprised me the most is how close everyone at the company is, despite us being a globally-dispersed team. It helps so much as we operate in a remote-friendly environment. It makes the world a little bit of a smaller place because I know that any city I am in, there is usually a Gigster or two to show me their day-to-day life.

I enjoy the breadth of work I’m involved with, and know it’s easy to have a sizeable impact on the company. Since I joined, I’ve been increasingly impressed with the work being done, not just once, but continually. The quality is so high all around that you cannot help but be motivated by it. Oh, and the in-person events are a blast.

I’ve learned the most from my colleague Nikoly. She handles our customers with grace and understanding, no matter the occasion. I’ve also loved bonding with fellow foodies at Gigs. There’s a reason people love visiting the London Pad, our food recommendations are off the charts!

I met the founders for lunch just before I started at Gigs. When we got back to the office, the mocks for the first Gigs logo had just come in. They asked me my opinion. I’m not sure how valuable my input was, as I never got an offer to move to the Design team. But I realised in that moment that Gigs was a place where my opinion would be valued, and my work would be impactful.
