What you'll do:
As a Business Affairs Specialist, your key area of responsibility will be to assist the sales and business development teams in providing contracting support on certain commercial and government contracts, as well as lead a variety of Revenue Operations project-related tasks. You will work closely with sales, operations, legal, and other internal departments.
How you'll make an impact

Draft a variety of different types of letters, agreements, amendments, notices, and other documents including process documents.

Read and review contracts appropriately and identify potential risks.

Explain terms and conditions to managers and interested parties.

Support contract negotiations by tracking non-standard contractual terms, updating trackers, Salesforce and any reports that may be needed.

Engage internal stakeholders (Finance, Compliance, Accounts Receivable, Legal, etc., for example), for contract reviews and approvals, following up with them on deliverables.

Collaborate with the Legal department for contractual support.

Perform administrative tasks within the Business Affairs team such as updating Geotab's process documents and systems (including Salesforce and different trackers tools), as required.

Support in the coordination of ongoing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives for the department.

Assist with the training and onboarding of new hires.

Produce reports, as needed, from different systems.

Responsible for contribution to the departmental Wiki and Need to Know updates

Maintain an organized system of physical and digital records.

Creating and maintaining contract management-related resources.
What you'll bring to the role

1-3 years of proven work experience in contracting drafting, negotiation, administration and management.

Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Ability to collaborate as well as work independently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent drafting ability.

High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail, with an ability to spot and correct errors.

Ability to read and review contract agreements appropriately and identify risks.

Knowledge of legal requirements involved with contracts.

Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.

Strong analytical skills.

Ability to work with varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners.

Experience in sales and or sales support would be considered an asset.

Desire and aptitude to learn about the contract process.

Experience working within a technical or engineering organization/knowledge of the high-technology industry is an asset.

Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides), Litera, Salesforce, and JIRA.

Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
