Who you are:

Geotab is seeking an OEM Product Manager to revolutionize our OEM Data Platform, leveraging partnerships with Vehicle OEMs to integrate cloud-to-cloud data technologies. This pivotal role is at the heart of enhancing our telematics offerings and propelling Geotab's data acquisition strategy forward.

What you'll do:

As a Product Manger OEM, you will leverage your strategic insight to grasp vehicle data market trends, informing the development of our product roadmap and guiding key decisions. Your customer-centric mindset will drive you to conduct discovery interviews, uncovering product needs and sparking innovative solutions for vehicle data support. In collaboration with internal teams, you'll tackle challenges and champion platform enhancements, utilizing your analytical acumen to refine our offerings and track the success of our products. Your ability to effectively communicate will ensure that the vision and purpose behind product initiatives are transparent, cultivating a shared understanding and unified direction within our teams. How you'll make an impact

  • Responsible for driving design initiatives in cross-functional teams, promoting cross-functional collaboration and ensuring the seamless integration of design solutions throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Take a proactive role in identifying opportunities to enhance design capabilities and effectiveness, initiating improvements in design methodologies, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency and deliver exceptional user experiences.

  • Conduct research, user testing, and analysis to gain deep insights into user behaviors, preferences, and pain points, guiding the development of user-centered design solutions.

  • Take responsibility for knowledge sharing within the design team, mentoring and supporting junior designers to foster their professional growth and excellence.

  • Advise manager on user-centric design principles and best practices, ensuring that design solutions align with user needs and industry standards.

  • Gather requirements and align design efforts with business objectives, actively seeking opportunities to improve the overall product experience.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices, continuously evolving design skills and knowledge.

  • Advise on design concepts and communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders, presenting design solutions and justifying design decisions based on user research and data.

  • Work independently with developers and product managers to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions, providing guidance and support throughout the development process.

  • Champion the adoption and evolution of a design system, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive its implementation and maintenance by establishing and encouraging the adoption of design system guidelines  

  • Lead efforts within a cross-functional team to advocate and contribute to our design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across products and platforms.

  • Mentor earlier stage designers across the design team; leveling up the team, helping to improve best practices, processes and tooling.

  • Help build a high-functioning design team and culture; contributing to hiring processes, providing thoughtful feedback in design critiques, identifying internal and external opportunities to level up design at Geotab.

What you'll bring to the role

  • 5-8 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Deep knowledge of product design, including common interaction patterns used and associated trade-offs, and best practices for responsive web applications.

  • Experience collaborating closely with product management, engineering, and research.

  • Proficiency in UI design and using tools like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Principle, etc.

  • Ability to lead all aspects of the user-centered design process from conception to completion.

  • Ability to develop high-level design strategy and vision.

  • Communicate complex ideas, goals, and problems in a way that is accessible even to those unfamiliar with the project. 

  • Must have the flexibility to adapt to growing technology and market demands.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.

  • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.

  • Relevant  Degree/Diploma i.e. Specialization in Design, HCI, User Experience, Research Psychology, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

At Geotab, we have adopted a flexible hybrid working model in that we have systems, functions, programs and policies in place to support both in-person and virtual work. However, you are welcomed and encouraged to come into our beautiful, safe, clean offices as often as you like. When working from home, you are required to have a reliable internet connection with at least 50mb DL/10mb UL.
