Position Overview: 

Genius is hiring a Chief Financial Officer to help build the team, processes, and systems that are required to support the next stage of the company’s growth. Reporting to our CEO, Tom Lehman, this executive will:


  • Manage all fundraising and M&A activities across the company
  • Act as the point person for all investor requests and board materials
  • Oversee all budget, review, and forecasting processes in partnership with senior management to create accurate monthly forecasts
  • Conduct high-level monthly reviews to ensure the integrity of the company's accounting systems and ledgers
  • Establish and drive an effective balance between growth aspirations and affordability in budgeting / forecasting processes with all lines of business
  • Optimize the organization’s cash flow management and strategic investments
  • Work with leadership to enable growth opportunities with excel models and analyses to provide recommendations for maximizing economic and financial results over the short and long-term
  • Develop business plans and performance benchmarks with the CEO for all departments
  • Manage accounting and all transactions related to the GL and month-end close
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting


  • 10+ years of progressive finance and business operations experience 
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in a high growth media and advertising business
  • Extensive experience working with ad sales teams
  • Success in creating a finance function that is a business partner to the organization
  • Deal structuring and contract negotiations experience 
  • Experienced with accounting and ERP systems
  • Experience developing dashboards and key metrics to track the business and inform strategy for board members
  • Proven ability to hire, develop, and manage a high performing team
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA preferred
