JOB SUMMARY
Provide excellent scientific and technical expertise to analytical development activities. The person in this scientific role is expected to work collaboratively with the team to establish and implement best regulatory, laboratory practices and lead the execution of complex cell-based experiments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Design/implement in vitro potency assays using cell lines and primary cells
- Culture and differentiate human CD34+ cells
- Design and implement novel flow cytometry and ddPCR methods for functional assays, phenotype characterization, and cell sorting/enrichment applications
- Utilize knowledge of primary cell culture to facilitate rapid and accurate assessments of potency
- Quantify transgene levels and correlate with protein expression.
- Establish infectivity assays to measure potency of purified viral vectors
- Execute research timelines to meet program and corporate objectives
- Train Analytical Development/Quality Control associates and techs and work closely with other departments, assisting in project planning.
- Maintain high quality deliverables and open communication, creating a collaborative working environment
- Contribute to a collaborative, creative, and rigorous culture of scientific discovery
- Provide monthly reports to department head

Work Environment
- Frequently required to work in a BSL 2 environment with personal protective equipment/aseptic gowning
- Regularly required to work around large machinery and typical utilities seen in pharmaceutical facilities
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; hazardous waste; and risk of electrical shock
- Occasionally exposed to extremely loud noise levels
- Spending time on the floor during activity execution (maintenance, construction, commissioning and qualification) is required
