SUMMARY:
Generation Bio is seeking an energetic and highly motivated molecular biologist with broad mechanistic understanding of mammalian cellular trafficking to join our team. The Principal Scientist hired will focus on development of platform technologies to enhance nuclear translocation and its integration with iqDNA. The successful candidate will bring experience-based insights from scientific fields such as nuclear pore complex structure/ function, cellular trafficking of diverse cargos, mechanism of mRNA export, viral packaging and nuclear translocation. The Principal Scientist will conceive and implement novel approaches to address key platform development goals, developing and driving execution of technical plans individually and as part of teams. This position reports to the VP, head of Molecular Biology and will be responsible for building functional expertise and leading cross functional teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead design approaches for optimizing nuclear translocation of nucleic acid cargoes.
- Generate appropriately scoped research plans to meet scientific and resourcing demands.
- Lead execution of research individually and as part of function and cross functional teams.
- Present scientific ideas and results effectively to different teams and groups within the organization.
- Accountable for on-time execution of experimental projects to advance our iqDNA platform.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Synthetic biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry or related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, majority in an industry setting.
- Experience in scientific fields of as nuclear pore complex structure/ function, cellular trafficking of diverse cargos, mechanism of mRNA export, viral packaging and nuclear translocation, or related field.
- Capacity for innovative thinking and critical problem solving.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with capacity and proven track record of working cross functionally.
