Founded by McKinsey & Company, Generation is its own legal non-profit entity active in 9 countries to date – USA, Kenya, Spain, Mexico, India, Hong Kong, France, Italy, Pakistan and UK – and is actively launching additional sites. Generation USA is currently live in 11 cities and is scaling rapidly to support learners across the country.
The Partnership Manager is a full-time role that will lead the launch of a Generation cloud support training program in New York City and then have the opportunity to serve as the primary representative of Generation on-the-ground once the program is active. The primary functions of this role will be to support our nonprofit partner, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) with (1) program delivery, (2) employer partnership building, and (3) meet Generation USA target metrics on recruitment, graduation placement, and job retention.
In September 2019, Generation will launch our first cohort of students in New York City for a 12-week bootcamp that will prepare students for careers in the cloud computing field. The Partnership Manager will work with OBT to launch a pilot phase to train at least 60 young adults in three cohorts over 7 months. Based on the success of our graduates and employer demand, we will continue to scale the program.
This position will be co-located at OBT’s shared space in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
- Support OBT, our program delivery partner, and serve as a bridge between Generation and OBT by:
- Maintaining regular contact with partner to provide frequent updates on program status and outcomes, address any challenges, and ensure success of the program
- Developing deep relationships with key partner stakeholders by providing high-touch service
- Coordinating program events in collaboration with partner to recruit students and engage alumni
- Collaborating with partner to establish and execute against timeline for training and employment of Generation students, including application submission and auditions
- Acting as liaison to Generation US National team, contributing insights, recommendations and experiences as we continue improving the Generation model nationally and codifying best practices for employer partnerships
- Drive employer partnerships by:
- Identifying and cultivating potential employer and community partners, researching the workforce landscape, and determining optimal path for a new Generation program in the region
- Leading outreach to new potential partners on behalf of Generation
- Maintaining regular contact with potential partners and providing frequent updates on planning phase status
- Managing relationships with other key stakeholders in the region (e.g., Mayor’s Office)
- Coordinating partner relations events to raise awareness and interest in Generation
- Researching workforce landscape, job vacancy data, and projected growth in talent demand
- Acting as liaison to Generation US National team, contributing insights and experiences as we continue improving the Generation model nationally and codifying best practices
- Collaborating with Generation US National team to evaluate opportunities for professional program based on partners identified and the greatest opportunity for impact.
- Effectively deliver program outcomes by:
- Support recruitment of program students in coordination with Generation US National team (e.g., marketing, digital)
- Supporting the selected partner Instructors in delivering technical content designed by Generation
- Overseeing and coaching Generation program Mentor in delivering ‘soft skills’ curriculum content and providing students guidance and support
- Managing program logistics (e.g., scheduling needs, resources)
- Building network of community organizations to identify wrap-around support services for students to overcome barriers to successful program completion and employment
- Evaluating program against agreed upon objectives and metrics guided by Generation US National team at frequent and regular intervals
- Maintain ROI data collection and activities by:
- Ensuring complete and accurate reporting
- Utilizing a file system with participant information and program records; ensuring team (instructors and mentor) keep this information up to date on the Generation Data Tool
- Conducting analysis to demonstrate ROI including managing logistics and collect ROI data
- 60+ program participants confirmed by June 2020
- Confirmed commitment of non-profit partner to support delivery of the Generation program
- Confirmed commitment of employer partners to interview no fewer than 60+ Generation program graduates for hire for a specific role during subsequent pilot phase and pay Generation employer fees for sustainability
- Cultivation of Generation network that includes non-profit organizations engaged in workforce, opportunity youth, and wrap-around services to enable ease of recruitment and student support once program launches
- 80% job retention with employer for at least 180 days
- 80% program graduation rate across programs
- 100% of graduates pass the certification aligned with the program
- 85% of graduates employed within 30 days of graduation
- 90% job retention at 90 days after employment
