About the Role:

We are looking for a Scientist who can help us develop improved DNA polymerases for sequencing applications, using both directed and random mutagenesis approaches. If these challenges seem exciting and you fit the requirement outlined below - please apply!

Responsibilities:

  • Clone, express, screen, and characterize novel DNA polymerases with improved properties.
  • Express and purify large quantities of DNA polymerase enzymes.
  • Critically analyze and derive insights from experimental data using standard and custom NGS bioinformatics tools.
  • Independently design experimental plans, execute experiments, perform in-depth data analysis, and present results and conclusions for internal review. 

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding expertise and background in molecular biology and protein biochemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, trouble-shoot, and work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ph.D., preferably with 2+ years of industry or academic postdoctoral experience.

Bonus Points If:

  • Hands-on experience with protein analysis and purification methods including affinity tagging and FPLC.
  • Hand-on experience with site-directed mutagenesis and mutant library generation methods.
  • Familiarity with polymerase mechanisms and kinetics.
  • Familiarity with the structures and characteristics of family A and B DNA polymerases and their use in biotechnology applications.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving trends in the NGS field.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, trouble-shoot, and work in multidisciplinary teams.
