SUMMARY

GCM Grosvenor, a growing and dynamic Alternative Investments firm, is seeking a Product Manager to drive our enterprise data strategy and proprietary data fabric. As an investment management firm that invests across all alternative asset classes, our data are not big (terabytes, not petabytes), but the data challenges we face from a lack of standardization in the industry offer a compelling challenge for the right candidate.

In this role, you will understand our data footprint and user challenges, streamline vended data, and define and deliver a data enablement strategy to the firm.   Our data platform includes data lake solutions, data warehouses, authoritative data sources, data access capabilities, vendor relationships, and more.  A Product Manager’s role is both strategic and tactical, sitting at the intersection of the business, technology, and user experience. To be successful, the Product Manager must build relationships throughout the firm, manage cross-functional initiatives, and partner with our engineering teams and 3rd parties to deliver outcomes. The Product Manager is engaged in all aspects of the solutioning process, from ideation through adoption.

WHY YOU ARE A GOOD FIT FOR OUR TEAM

  • You believe in the inherent value of data to investment management and have a passion for bringing order to content.
  • You have experience defining vision and a proven track record of executing strategic data projects.
  • You are as comfortable translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and driving adoption as you are getting your hands dirty with building data solutions.
  • You are empathetic to users’ needs and pain points.
  • You can move quickly without cutting corners and deliver iteratively without losing sight of the endgame.
  • You can think big and are willing to push and drive change.
  • You are enthusiastic about emergent technologies, such as AI, and are excited to apply them to new places and spaces.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual will be involved in the following critical activities and more:

  • Expand and drive adoption for data fabric solutions within technology, across business units, and clients.
  • Serve on our firm’s data governance council, ensuring that decisions are in line with broad data strategy.
  • Manage relationships and budget for our 3rd party data providers.
  • Measure everything and use these metrics to show success or opportunities for improvement.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The ideal experience and critical competencies for the role include the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience developing and seeing through strategic vision for data solutions.
  • Effective communicator; able to synthesize complex concepts for various audiences.
  • High attention to detail; you sweat the little things.
  • Experience building key outputs including Wireframes, Business Requirements, Organizational Change Management Communications and more.
  • Experience on Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, OneLake, etc.) and history of driving adoption.
  • Alternative asset management experience valued, but not required.
