About the role:
We are seeking skilled and highly motivated individuals to lead our fleet operations team and oversee all AV deployments are performed safely, on time, and per customer specification. You will build a strong team of dispatchers, safety drivers, site supervisors, shift coordinators and managers. As the Head of Fleet Operations, you will provide strategic direction, monitor performance of individuals and identify areas for training and development, while maintaining an incident free safety culture across all operational sites in US and Canada. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.
This role is 4 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office location!
What you'll do:
- Provide strategic direction and day-to-day management to our fleet operations team
- Scale operations by launching and deploying our AV fleet at new customer sites while accounting for various operational challenges
- Identify key areas of inefficiency, work cross-functionally to establish best practices, and create & implement Standard Operating Procedures
- Establish and maintain strong customer relationship, while meeting all customer key performance metrics and objectives
- Manage resources effectively to achieve operational excellence by meet or exceeding the site financial operating plan
- Proactively identify and correct unsafe conditions, inefficient work processes, and behaviors and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies and procedures
- Positive attitude in stressful situations; flexibility with last-minute changes and working hours is necessary
- Drive results by fostering creativity and accountability in a performance-oriented culture
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, Management, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of Fleet Operations Management experience in a small to medium size company
- 8+ years of operations experience in transportation or the logistics industry
- Experience with scaling businesses and launching new operations in multiple geographical locations
- Excellent customer-facing skills with the ability to communicate complex issues to diverse audiences (e.g., operations, engineering, or leadership)
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams
- Strong knowledge of safe maintenance practices ie: DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations
- Excellent analytical aptitude and experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
- Proven ability to seamlessly navigate and shift between strategic thinking and tactical leadership
- Experience working in fast-paced, high growth E-commerce or B2B startup environments
