About the role:
The Fleet Operations HR Specialist will work closely with our Fleet Operations and HQ HR teams to drive, administer, and support day-to-day HR activities. Our Fleet Operations team is responsible for all of Gatik’s AV fleet deployments at our customer locations. This person will serve as an important bridge between our Mountain View corporate headquarters, especially our HR team, and our field Operations sites throughout the US and Canada.
An ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically inclined, embraces a positive attitude, remains calm in a rapid-paced environment, and has a strong HR background in an operations centric organization with an emphasis on delivering HR programs for hourly, non-exempt employees. This role will require you to stay flexible, tackle ambiguity head-on, embrace change, and focus on delivering a compliant and best-in-class and employee experience.
This role will be onsite 5 days a week at our Ft. Worth, TX office.
What you'll do:
- Lead day-to-day HR processes for our Fleet Operations team while working closely with our People & TA team to execute HR strategy and programs with a focus on employee engagement, HR operations and compliance
- Support hiring managers on activities related to hiring, resignations/terminations and other employee data and job changes, including assistance with tracking hours worked, overtime, PTO, and partnering with our Payroll team as needed
- Ensure all new employees and contractors are effectively onboarded and trained
- Knowledgeably answer employee questions related to benefits, leaves and other HR programs
- Support the development and roll-out of training and policies that specifically relate to our Fleet Operations team and ensure ongoing compliance
- Provide day to day performance management guidance to Site Operations managers and AVO supervisors (coaching, counseling, best practice guidance, etc)
- Lead and assist in investigations and incidents relating to the AV Fleet and/or the AVOs including insurance, workers compensation, etc.
- Identify and address legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements affecting Human Resources (i.e. EEO, Wage & Hour, FMLA, ADA etc.) that are applicable to our operations
- Draft, deliver, maintain, audit, and continuously improve HR-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our operations sites
- Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with our employees and vendors
- Promote and improve company culture, including supporting Gatik’s values, providing feedback to HQ and facilitating employee events
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business, HR or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of relevant HR experience in an operations environment, including employee relations, performance management, training, safety and risk management, leaves, harassment prevention and compliance
- Experience with wage and hour compliance, as well as a strong understanding of how labor and employment laws impact operations-related jobs
- Willing to travel as necessary to support our fleet teams in Texas, Arkansas and Toronto, as well as other customer locations as we scale. We estimate this to be up to 20%, but could vary depending on business needs
- Experience with reasonable accommodations and the interactive process under the ADA
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, and constantly changing environment
- Experience in the automotive, transportation or logistics industry (preferred)
- Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations as it relates to hours of service, etc. (preferred)
