Galvanize Climate Solutions (“Galvanize”) is a climate-focused global investment firm delivering capital and expertise to accelerate climate solutions. Founded by Katie Hall and Tom Steyer, Galvanize invests across asset classes including venture capital and growth equity, public equities, and real estate. Role

The Investor Partnerships team leads fundraising and investor relations across asset classes for Galvanize. The team maintains relationships with prospective and current Limited Partners (LPs) globally on behalf of the firm. We are seeking a regional lead to be based in our New York (Union Square) office, who will help immediately address three priorities:

  1. Lead relationships with LPs based in the eastern half of the US and Canada and all of Latin America, on behalf of Galvanize Climate Solutions
  2. Drive capital commitments from LPs in the region to Galvanize Climate Solutions’ investment products
  3. Establish brand awareness in the North American LP community for Galvanize Climate Solutions as the best-in-class climate investment firm, while being a thought partner to LPs

All regional leads report to our Head of Investor Partnerships and Business Development, who is based in San Francisco. This is a unique opportunity for a fundraising professional who wants to apply their exceptional relationship cultivation and sales skills as a “force for good”, and sees the climate imperative as a significant investment theme. This role will also appeal to those with an entrepreneurial mentality, who want to be part of a dynamic, fast growing firm with an expanding product set.

Travel will be required in order to meet fundraising objectives. When not traveling, most colleagues in the New York office are typically in the office four days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Deepen relationships with candidate’s and firm’s existing LP network in the eastern half of the US and Canada and all of Latin America
  • Develop new LP relationships in the region with the objective of raising capital for Galvanize products 
  • Drive LP commitments from opportunity introduction through close, leveraging senior members of the relevant investment team and platform through the process
  • Philosophically approach fundraising as being a thought partner to LPs
  • Represent the firm at industry events and conferences
  • Design the Eastern North America fundraising plan and set the targets in collaboration with the Head of Investor Partnerships and firm leadership, and align the broader organization around regional fundraising objectives and approach
  • Analyze and present trends around fundraising, competitor behavior, shareholder issues, and anything else that may impact the business from a fundraising perspective
  • Mentor and work closely with New York-based Investor Partnerships Associate
  • Partner closely with platform operations team to set fund terms and successful LPA or side letter delivery
  • Liaise with COO, chief compliance officer, and legal team to ensure the fundraising program is consistent with our cultural value of Unwavering Integrity and our compliance program

Qualifications

  • At least ten years of experience at an investment firm in fundraising, sales, or capital formation
  • Have an established and significant institutional LP network in the eastern half of the US and Canada
  • Proven track record of cross-selling multiple, differentiated products
  • Authentic interest in accelerating climate solutions and conviction in the climate investment theme 
  • Strong networking and business development capabilities
  • Communicates ideas well both orally and in writing
  • High horsepower coupled with intellectual curiosity, both to maintain familiarity with current investment strategies and portfolios and to quickly learn future Galvanize funds or products
  • Familiarity with US and Canadian private placement compliance standards
  • Has successfully used external sales skills to also bring along internal customers; can thoughtfully balance and prioritize expectations from multiple investment strategies
  • Eligible to work in the US

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $400,000
  • This role is expected to offer significant upside in the form of variable bonus cash compensation
