The Role: What will I do?

The role of Director of Data is a highly visible role withing the company.  Reporting to the Global Data Lead, the director will need to collaborate with a diverse team of client leads, data engineers, analysts, designers, solution owners, and various COEs in a global matrix structure.  On a day-to-day basis the Director of Data will head up and lead the data management and dedicated data team (approximately 10 people) for a group of client engagements across multiple industries (the squad).

Our teams bring together cutting-edge data engineering, advanced analytics, unified measurement products and enterprise scalable engineering to build products that will shape the next decade of faster, smarter, data informed decision-making. We believe that consumer privacy, client confidentiality, brand growth and user experience are essential to performance.

The Director is responsible for several areas of the business:

  • Work with the Squad lead and client leads to manage clients, work and delivery timelines
  • Lead a group of highly motivated and trained data experts that exist in a geo distributed manner to deliver high quality data to our internal and external partners, deliver projects on time, and grow their team’s impact on the company
  • Lead conversations on data management on calls/meetings with clients
  • Drive innovation and automation across the squad to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of our work
  • Work with the Data COE leaders to test and scale new technologies and platforms
  • Mentor the team on career growth and technical skillsets
  • Work with other leaders to decrease friction of the work and to build a positive and collaborative culture
  • Provide technical consultation to client leads and client teams for complex data requirements
  • Coordinate with resourcing team to provide client leads with data scoping and resource estimates
  • Direct and lead data resources to support assigned NA clients on data techniques, best practices, and tools to enable them to better support their ongoing client data work
  • Regularly meet with global data lead community for knowledge sharing and other leadership opportunities
  • Act as a player/coach, with a willingness to work in the day-to-day data processes as needed to meet client expectations
  • Lead and manage a geographically dispersed team across APAC and NA, fostering effective communication and collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

  • Background (8-10 years+) in Marketing, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field
  • In depth experience with all things data including ability to work with a variety of datasets from multiple sources, familiar with standard data processing tools/concepts (e.g. SQL, ETL), and experience driving robust QA processes
  • In depth experience of the advertising ecosystem (e.g. ad trafficking, Ad servers, DSPs, Media Strategy and Activation, etc.) and a working knowledge of appropriate metrics, measurement, and reporting
  • Can lead requirements gathering, project planning, and implementation for both cross functional internal data initiatives as well client-side data projects
  • Has project management skills including planning tasks and deliverables, managing timelines and risks, managing team resource allocation, and overseeing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Ability to manage and motivate Gain Theory team members
  • Organized, detail-oriented, QA-focused
  • Experience/familiarity with Multi-Touch Attributions solutions and/or Market Mix Modeling will be highly valued
  • Experience with Snowflake is highly valuable
  • Experience with DBT is highly valuable
  • Experience with BI visualization platforms is highly valuable
  • Experience with Python is highly valuable
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
