POSITION SUMMARY

The Managing Director, Chief Product Officer (Retail) will be key part of Individual Market Leadership Team leading product development and innovation, helping to fuel next leg of sales growth.  

This leadership role will oversee the development of annuity, life products and reinsurance products, set new business pricing, manage existing products, and lead overall product strategy for Global Atlantic Financial Group.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Co-Heads of Individual Markets and will be located in our NYC office.  An important component of the role will be effective collaboration and communication across Individual Markets as well as investments, risk, hedging, and finance areas to manage new business and in force profitability, product competitiveness and sales growth.  The successful candidate will also collaborate with KKR to enhance our combined capabilities to design and launch new solutions to the marketplace.  Knowledge of insurance, investments, finance, actuarial and hedging is critical for success. 

This leadership role will have responsibility for leading product strategy to profitability grow sales and manage in force profitability and will be accountable for communication across business areas and the overall execution of products within our retail franchise.  The successful candidate needs a demonstrated ability to think both creatively and strategically. They will be counted on to provide experience, industry insights, and thought leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key part of Individual Markets leadership team helping to collaborate and connect across organization.
  • Assist in reimagining the product ideation process by having a deep understanding of asset characteristics and how they could inform annuity benefit and liquidity design in a modern way
  • Lead a team of product development, product pricing, and modeling actuaries.
  • Lead product committee, and likely participate in other governance committees.
  • Execute existing opportunities and directly partner with key leaders to define, evaluate, and recommend specific product opportunities with existing and potential distribution partners.
  • Responsible for financial evaluation of strategic scenarios including financial modeling, organizational design implications, business structure, and execution frameworks.
  • Develop materials and lead executive reviews of new product development and profitability management, including product, finance and risk committees as well as CEO level presentations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, strategically and champion product throughout Global Atlantic and our distribution partners taking into account company profitability and consumer value.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead business lines and seamlessly navigate matrixed organizations.
  • Experience leading Product strategy development, financial analysis, and product innovation.
  • Substantial leadership experience and knowledge of insurance, capital markets and risk.
  • Track record of product innovation and raising liabilities at attractive funding costs.
  • Detailed understanding of product vehicles, legal and other regulatory, structures, and unique investment requirements of retail products (registered and unregistered).
  • Expert communication skills and ability to influence senior most levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to align internal and external resources to partner for successful outcomes.
  • Experience and ability to work with operating committees and boards to inform and promote.
  • The ability to coach, mentor and share knowledge with others in the organization.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to other offices (i.e. Des Moines, Hartford, Wayne (PA))
  • Experience designing large-scale business cases and successful implementation strategy.
  • Experience in M&A is desired but not required.
