AI Research Engineer

At FutureHouse, we are using AI to automate the process of scientific discovery. The systems we are building will allow humanity to proceed as quickly as possible to cures for disease, solutions for climate change, and to species-accelerating technologies like interstellar spaceflight.

We are seeking an AI Research Engineer with experience designing and developing data pipelines and models for LLM training, experimentation, and deployment. We seek candidates who possess a keen desire to influence the forefront of ML & AI technology, especially within the scientific domain, to drive meaningful change. This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement large-scale data pipelines to optimize precision + recall, dependability, and processing speed.
• Lead training and orchestration of multi-agent LLMs systems, including model fine-tuning and creation of custom embeddings.
• Develop and extend our experimentation platform for internal tools and projects.
• Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of AI researchers, chemists biologists, fostering an environment of innovation and discovery.

Requirements:

• Experience working with data and ML systems: EDA, feature engineering, model development, model deployment, and validation in production systems.
• Familiarity with modeling in PyTorch, Jax or equivalent framework.
• Demonstrated experience with experimentation in academic or industry settings.
• Strong programming expertise with the capability to adapt to various technical challenges in the data, ML, and LLM software stack.

Nice to have:

• PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or other quantitive field
• Experience training embeddings with custom evaluation set and corpus
• Experience utilizing custom agents, and employing techniques such as RAG
• Familiarity with leveraging and managing distributed systems
