We are searching for candidates to work in a multi-disciplinary team as a hands-on engineer responsible for ensuring the successful operations of all elements in a complex multi-robot system. As a core part of the R+D and Process Improvement team the mechanical system engineer intern will assume a great deal of hands-on responsibility, trouble-shooting issues, identifying root causes and owning resolutions/improvements. The ideal candidate must be able to troubleshoot and understand issues in multiple fields including robotics, hardware, electronics and automation. 

In addition the candidate should be able to communicate effectively with the hardware/software design teams as well as the maintenance/operations teams to ensure effective solutions are developed and then implemented in production. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly talented group of engineers from varied backgrounds, fresh from an experience with another successful startup and from other leading tech companies.

Your responsibilities:

  • Identify, find root cause and solve issues in a production robotics facility 
  • Root cause analysis, failure analysis
  • Machine startup and testing 
  • Develop multi disciplinary solution to production issues
  • Write SOPs for process improvements
  • Quantify and track machine performance

What we're looking for:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Hands on aptitude – able to dive in and troubleshoot and fix variety of system issues across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Familiarity with hand tools, electrical tools and measurement instruments 
  • Experience working with mechatronics hardware – motors & drives, sensors, actuators, etc.
  • Desire to work in an incredibly fast paced startup environment
  • Cares about the world and wants to have an impact on it

What we'd love to see:

  • Experience designing and manufacturing parts/assemblies/mechanisms
  • Experience with mechatronics systems (robotics, control systems, programming languages such as C++ is a plus)
  • Experience with running scientific tests, collecting data/measurements and statistical analysis
  • Experience with process control for manufacturing 
  • Experience in food tech
  • Experience managing engineering projects or leadership experience
