Job Description:

The Streaming Media Engineer is responsible for the architectural design, implementation, and documentation of a cloud-based VOD acquisition, encoding, and packaging solution. The engineer is also responsible for reliable, consistent operation of these systems to provide a top quality video delivery experience for our customers. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engineer solutions for research and innovations sake within the ecosystem that is streaming video.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing a MVPD-based VOD acquisition, encoding and packaging solution.
  • Work with software engineering teams to fill gaps where needed.
  • Develop tools to scale deployments of chosen architectures
  • Work with various business-critical vendors to drive feature development and bug fixes
  • Work with multiple teams to launch new services on the FuboTV platform
  • Provide Tier 2 support as needed
  • Perform routine maintenances as needed, possibly overnight
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and act as a subject matter expert for fuboTV-internal groups 

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of the CableLabs VOD Content Specification Version 1.1
  • Understanding of various video and audio codecs such as AVC, HEVC, AAC, E-AC3 with emphasis on video/audio quality
  • Understanding of various streaming packaging methods such as HLS and DASH
  • Understanding of SSAI
  • Familiarity with DRM and content encryption, including 3rd-party integrations
  • Familiarity with cloud deployments (Docker, AWS EC2/ECS, Google Cloud Compute/Storage)
  • Experience with testing environments, and development of scenarios
  • Experience with script writing/automation using languages such as Python, Ruby, etc. and utilizing REST API’s for configuration/feedback loop
