Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative co-op that will function under the guidance and expertise of scientists in Pioneering Medicines’ In Vivo Pharmacology team. The major focus of this position will be the evaluation of novel biological and small molecule therapeutic agents, including RNA-based approaches, that will support the drug discovery efforts across multiple therapeutic areas from target validation to identification of clinical candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with In vivo scientists to develop and perform in vivo and ex vivo experiments
- Conduct in vivo procedures to evaluate efficacy of therapy candidates in rodent models, primarily mice
and rat. - Perform standard mouse/rat procedures including blood collection, injections, necropsies, and tissue
collection in compliance with established protocols. - Conduct and maintain accurate records of in life safety assessments: monitor body weight, clinical observations, and survival of mice.
- Analyze data to clearly summarize and communicate results
- Maintain a detailed and up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook
Basic Qualifications:
- Previous hands-on experience with research animals, preferably mice and rats
- Strong work ethic and a passion for in vivo work
- A collaborative, team player and good lab citizen
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Effective and proactive communication
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge of the following are a plus (but not strictly necessary):
- Basic laboratory skills desired, but not required
- Familiarity with IACUC and animal welfare requirements
- Proficiency in data analysis and presentation tools including GraphPad Prism, MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel).
