FreshBooks is looking for a seasoned Product Manager to join our team and manage our internal billing system  (i.e. how we bill our customers). If you're passionate about tackling complex technical challenges with high business impact — this job is for you.

 What you have: 

  • You're a passionate leader with a keen ability to make order from chaos
  • You're an excellent communicator who can explain complex technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
  • You've got ability to think “big picture” and develop a compelling vision for your product or feature
  • You’re not a project manager, but you’re not afraid to act like one — be willing to roll up your sleeves to help your team get things done
  • A history of bringing major features to market fast, and iterating based on customer feedback (familiarity with “lean” methodologies a plus)
  • Proven ability to use systems thinking to deliver products with high technical complexity working with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Experience in software development and web technologies — you don’t write the code, but you can ask questions and understand how the tech stack impacts your product
  • 3+ years proven work experience in product management 
  • Experience working on highly technical projects and internal systems.
    •  Bonus points for experience with billing systems (e.g. Aria, Zuora) 

What you’ll do:

  • Build a deep understanding of FreshBooks' internal billing system (e.g. the plan catalog and structure, dunning process)
  • Work with internal stakeholders across the company to uncover unmet needs and synthesize new billing requirements 
  • Work hand in hand with developers to translate business needs into well-defined project plans
  • Define expected behaviours and the user-experience for new billing features 
  • Train departments (e.g. support, sales) on new billing features and workflows as they come available
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to measure the business impact of the the billing projects you deliver 
  • Monitor and report on health of our billing system and investigate & remediate billing issues escalated from support & sales
  • Be the leader of our product, and voice of the stakeholder within your scrum team, so everyone knows what they’re building and why
  • Ensure the team's always working on the most important things, knows what's next, and knows when they're done — this means planning sprints, and writing user stories
  • Make the thousands of unsexy decisions, and shoulder the dirty work — from copywriting to reviewing legal contracts. 
  • Be the team's primary communicator and presenter, ensuring the rest of the org, executives, and other stakeholders are made aware of all major decisions and their implications
