SENIOR IT SYSTEMS ENGINEER

We are looking for a highly passionate and self-motivated individual who can excel in a dynamic work environment and will play a critical role in building our IT infrastructure. In this role, you will architect and deploy a wide variety of IT solutions to enable our advanced heterogeneous computing environment to process petabytes of data and integrate with a hybrid cloud platform.
In addition, you will be responsible for the corporate IT infrastructure to enable Freeform employees to maximize their productivity rate with as little downtime as possible. This high-impact role with a rapidly scaling technology company is perfect for someone who wants to build things from the ground up using the latest developments in big data and cloud computing.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Freeform engineers to gather requirements, design, deploy, and support enterprise IT/software platforms and related technologies in a dynamic environment
- Build highly resilient, high-performance, scalable, and flexible IT systems
- Network file system administration
- VPN hardware and software
- Networking and firewall hardware and software management
- Conference room hardware/software integration
- Cloud Administration
- Cloud networking hardware/software implementation
- Designing and implementing a “hybrid cloud” design with remote and on-premises resources scaled appropriately
- Billing and user account administration
- Design, implement, manage, document & troubleshoot:
- Cloud infrastructure and big data computing environment
- Data centers and colocations
- Active Directory, SSO, and Microsoft 365
- LAN / WAN / MAN / WLAN
- Network monitoring systems
- Data management and archiving
- Troubleshoot various technical issues across operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.), multiple applications, and hardware (Ruckus, Cisco, FortiGate, Supermicro, etc.)
- Deploy new user setups, including hardware, imaging, and system access
- Provide end-user support on laptops, desktops, mobile phones, and connectivity issues when needed
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in IT systems engineering with both Linux and Windows Systems
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Experience with Docker in a highly distributed system
- Experience with VMware deployment clusters and high availability
- Linux scripting/automation experience using shell, bash, Python, or similar language
- Knowledge of best practices around data security and implementation of those practices (edge protection, ISO/IEC 27001, ITAR, PII, etc.)
- Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Degree in computer science, engineering, IT, information systems, math, physics, or similar technical discipline
- 4+ years of Kubernetes (AWS, Google GKE, Digital Ocean) experience, on-premises preferred. Multi-cluster setup
- Experience working for an engineering company and building an IT infrastructure for software or hardware engineers
- Experience designing infrastructure for big data and/or high performance computing
- Experience working in a hybrid cloud environment
- Experience with Active Directory and multi-platform authentication/identification environments
- Experience scoping, implementing, and partitioning physical and virtual servers in an enterprise environment for analysis clusters and computing, CAD design (NX, SolidWorks, Vault, etc.), data storage, MATLAB, programming development environments, and other applications
- Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; local and network-based user and group accounts and permissions
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision; must be a self-motivated self-starter that can initiate ideas.
- Ability to participate in after-hours, on-call support for computer, network, and phone issues.
- Experience setting up and supporting a remote work environment for offsite employees
