Reports to: Chief Commercial Officer 

Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Market Development Manager with a strong background in medical device market development experience to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing clinical trial sites within a designated geographic territory and overseeing patient recruitment funnel activities for a multi-center pivotal study of a novel endoscopic procedural therapy for type 2 diabetes and obesity. This role requires a proactive, strategic thinker who can drive trial success and market development initiatives while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Opportunity for long-term career growth: Initially focus on pivotal study recruitment efforts, with a clear path to evolve into an Area Market Development Manager role, reporting into commercial leadership and collaborating closely with the CCO to actively contribute to the commercial organization's expansion and strategic initiatives post-trial 
  • Develop and execute strategies to manage and optimize clinical trial sites for a pivotal study in the field of endoscopic procedural therapies targeting type 2 diabetes and obesity. 
  • Work closely with clinical operations to ensure successful patient recruitment and retention for the trial, optimizing the patient recruitment funnel to meet enrollment targets. 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clinical site staff, investigators, and healthcare professionals, to facilitate successful trial outcomes. 
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor trial progress, address any issues, and ensure adherence to protocols and compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborate with clinical specialists and marketing teams to align clinical trial activities with broader market development goals and strategies.  
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on trial progress, recruitment metrics, site performance, and market development initiatives. 
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to inform strategic planning and decision-making. 
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and professional associations to enhance knowledge and network within the industry. 
  • Perform all activities in compliance with applicable regulations, Fractyl’s policies and guidelines, including, but not limited to, timely documentation of activities and maintaining all required applicable training. 
  • Bring a “can do” spirit to work and deliver on other responsibilities as assigned. 

Education or Certification Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred. 

Professional Work Experience 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device sales, with a strong preference for candidates with experience in endoscopy or other procedural therapies, especially with a focus on gastrointestinal.   
  • Applicable experience in biotech, pharmaceutical and/or medical device industries preferred. 
  • Prior vocational experience in related fields a plus (i.e. Co-Ops, Internships, Fellowships, etc.). 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Proven track record of account management and either patient recruitment or commercial sales 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Ability to travel extensively within the assigned geographic territory. 
  • Proficient in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) regulatory requirements and guidelines governing clinical trials.

Travel 

This position requires up to 75% travel.
