DESCRIPTION:
The Lightning Engineer role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join the team at Foundry, a subsidiary of the blockchain industry’s most prolific and active investor, Digital Currency Group. Reporting to the VP of Digital Asset Research, the Lightning Engineer will be responsible for developing and integrating state channel architecture as well as research, development, and day-to-day deployment and maintenance of on-premise and cloud based infrastructure utilizing Foundry best practices and platforms.
This is a rare invitation to join a small, highly professional entrepreneurial group, with the backing of the most established player in the fast-growing crypto space.
This position is hybrid, with travel expected to the Foundry HQ in Rochester, NY.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Ubuntu Linux system administration
- Develop and share understanding of state channel architecture, ecosystems, & improvement opportunities
- Implement custom components to enhance state channel operations & management
- Develop and implement strategies to improve, integrate, and scale state channel network operation
- Build, operate, and monitor node infrastructure and related services
ABOUT YOU:
Minimum Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 3 years of backend engineering experience or comparable open-source contributions
- Demonstrated knowledge of Bitcoin and common Lightning implementations (LND, C-Lightning , Éclair, LDK)
- Experience with industry standard best practices around software development lifecycles, build and deployment pipelines, and writing testable and maintainable code.
- Solid understanding of network concepts (switches, firewalls, load balancers, intrusion detection)
- Solid understanding of logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
- Experience with Git source control management, code branching and merging, and promotion of artifacts from lower to upper environments.
- Unit, Integration, and Regression testing procedures and best practices.

- Contributions to FOSS Bitcoin and/or Lightning projects
