POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager to lead our Analytical Laboratory team. As the Manager of the Analytical team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the department's operations, leading a team of skilled analysts, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in powder characterization analysis, leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering actionable insights that contribute to business success.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and inspire a team of analytical professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations for team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and project prioritization.
  • Needs expertise in comprehensive characterization of powder materials in cement production using a variety of analytical techniques, including but not limited to:
    • Particle Size Analyzer (PSA)
    • Chemical composition analysis (X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, spectroscopy, etc.)
    • Surface area measurements (BET)
    • Bulk density determination
    • Thermal analysis (differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, etc.)
    • Microscopic analysis (scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy, etc.)
  • Set clear goals and performance expectations for team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and project prioritization within the department.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in powder characterization techniques and technologies and implement improvements to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of new analytical methods and protocols specific to powder characterization.
  • Research and sourcing new laboratory equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. Master's degree with substantial experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in material characterization, with a focus on powder characterization techniques and methods.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing analytical teams in a research or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge operating a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence, and Differential Scanning Calorimeter.
  • Experience dealing with Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA), Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent communication skills and eagerness to work with colleagues.

COMPENSATION

The compensation package for this role includes a competitive base salary commensurate with experience with a range of $135,000 - $150,000 as well as an annual bonus and pre-IPO incentive stock options.
