You’re an SEO Editor who gets excited about seeing a piece of content rank on the first page as soon as you publish. Planning a content calendar with a creative yet methodical strategy to drive traffic and new user acquisitions to the website sounds like just the right challenge for you. Format is looking for a passionate and experienced SEO Editor to join us for a 6-month contract to assist planning and executing a full-scale content initiative. Format is one of the world’s leading online portfolio platforms and website builders for visual artists. As our SEO Editor, you will be working closely with our SEO Manager to assist in the creation of a content calendar and leading a team of freelance writers to execute the content initiative the company has put forth.

Desired Skills and Experience:

As our SEO Editor, you’ll be busy creating a well-oiled content machine. You should have 2-3 years of experience in a similar role. Agency experience managing writers for clients in many different niches is a valuable asset.

Writer Management: You will be tasked with hiring an appropriately sized team of freelance writers experienced in producing SEO optimized content in the visual arts niche (photography, art, illustration, design, etc). Managing a large team of writers is a must-have experience in order to keep up with the size of this initiative.

SEO Copywriting/Editing: As the SEO Editor, you will need to be well-versed in content marketing and SEO. Knowing what makes great content for both users and search engines is essential. This includes everything from knowing which keywords to use — and where to use them — to using subheadings, mixed media assets, inter-linking, and even using anchor links. You will also need to have a strong writing background to adhere to strong editorial standards.

Research Focused: A successful candidate should be a master at keyword research. You must have experience with Google’s Keyword Planner, and experience with other tools like Ahrefs, SEMRush or LongtailPro is an asset. Experience doing competitor research is also highly valuable.

Collaboration: You will be working closely with the SEO Manager to assist in the content calendar creation and strategy. You will own this area and ensure that the SEO Manager is aware of the performance of the content, and any strategy adjustments needed for performance improvements. You will also be working with design to ensure you have all needed creative, and partnering with any other stakeholders as necessary.

Performance Driven and Analytical: As mentioned, you will own the content space for this project. Using our analytics platform, you will monitor the performance of the articles, track keyword rankings, and make strategy adjustments to ensure the success of this initiative.

Outreach: Featured an article with prominent influencers? You’ll also be tasked with reaching out to them and opening dialogue. Encourage them to share the article with their audiences, or even write a blog about it talking about us. Maybe you even want to reach out to some collaborators for a piece. Thinking about how to get more eyes on the articles you own will take performance to the next level.
