Role description:

This role focuses on enhancing our Lookup and Data sharing solutions, with Fonoa Lookup standing as the industry's leading tax ID validation tool, covering over 110 countries with direct access to local databases for accurate, up-to-date information. Our Data Sharing solution streamlines compliance by automating data accuracy and providing control over the compliance process in one platform, reducing the risk of non-compliance and the need for manual intervention. Integrated with Fonoa's platform, these solutions complement our Tax engine, digital reporting, and e-invoicing services.

As a Tax Technology Manager, you will be pivotal in refining these products, involving research, product development, client support, and contributing to marketing and sales strategies. 

We are looking to hire someone with a strong global tax background, preferably with experience in cross-border indirect taxes (VAT/GST) and Data Sharing, who is also knowledgeable in tax technology and driven by innovation. The ideal candidate will be passionate, able to grasp and communicate the product's value and work collaboratively across teams.

What you will do : 

  • Work across teams and functions to design and build our world-class TIN validation and Data Sharing products ready for the digital future
  • Research relevant country information, both tax and technically. Understand tax requirements in particular markets and implement those in our products
  • Monitor market developments, including relevant legislative changes impacting Lookup and Data sharing globally, and translate these into actionable input for our broader product and engineering teams
  • Investigate market trends, customer needs and product opportunities and translate these into tangible product recommendations
  • Support our Solutioning team with scoping new opportunities and onboarding new customers to the Fonoa platform as we continue to scale
  • Support our go-to-market function to develop the commercial strategy, materials, and briefings for the broader team. Create and deliver content, both written and presentations, to support our go-to-market strategy
  • Work with clients and prospects to demonstrate our solution and share the value proposition
  • In addition to partnering with our product teams, you will bridge the knowledge gap between the Tax, Sales, and Marketing teams

You will be a great fit if:

  • Have at least 6 years of experience in global (indirect) tax with relevant tax qualifications, with a preferred focus on digital services and e-commerce. Including hands-on experience with indirect tax technology solutions.
  • The following experience is a plus:
    • Experience with the EU’s DAC7 digital platform reporting obligations, as an in-house tax professional at a company that is either affected by the DAC7 rules or at a service provider that offers solutions for DAC7 compliance
    • Experience with regulations based on the OECD’s “Model Rules for Reporting by Platform Operators with respect to Sellers in the Sharing and Gig Economy” and the US’ 1099 forms
  • Building out internal processes for tax ID and/or VAT ID validation for AP/AR and general vendor/buyer due diligence processes e.g.,
  • You can research and communicate technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members and work effectively across all functional teams (e.g. product, engineers, sales, and marketing)
  • Comfortable presenting and discussing tax technical topics and industry trends with audiences of all sizes, from whiteboarding sessions with clients to webinars and presentations at industry events
