Why join us?
FogPharma is a biopharmaceutical company pioneering the discovery and development of Helicon™ therapeutics, which are peptides capable of efficient cell entry and modulation of both protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions. Through Helicon therapeutics, FogPharma is poised to revolutionize the medical possibilities for patients by precisely drugging intracellular targets long understood to be significant drivers of disease but never before drugged due to the limitations of existing drug modalities to act within the cell.
FOG-001, the company’s first-in-class TCF-blocking β-catenin inhibitor, is being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 study for patients with advanced solid tumors, including colorectal cancer. FogPharma is fully leveraging the unprecedented potential Helicons present by deploying proprietary, custom-built machine learning and computational methods as part of its discovery and development process. FogPharma has raised more than $500 million to date from leading life sciences investors. FogPharma is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.
What’s the opportunity?
FogPharma has built a high-throughput multiplexed screening platform that combines protein biochemistry, combinatorial chemistry, and mass spectrometry to discover Helicon peptides capable of targeting previously undruggable disease drivers. Join our high-performing multidisciplinary team to enhance the speed and scalability of the hit-to-lead and lead optimization processes! In this lab-based role, you will leverage our next-generation screening platforms to rapidly optimize helicon properties. Your responsibilities will include optimizing and implementing multiplexed screening assays, collaborating with a cross-functional team to drive structure-activity relationships, and transforming initial chemical matter into in-cell and in vivo active leads.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Develop methods that integrate biochemistry, mass spectrometry, and automation to screen peptide libraries and advance our drug discovery projects.
- Extend and expand our discovery platforms by working with other team members to develop multiplexed versions of cellular and DMPK assays.
- Collaborate with discovery teams to identify structure-activity relationships and integrate learnings into new helicon designs for hit-to-lead advancement and lead optimization.
- Accurately record experimental workflows, analyze data using analysis pipelines, and present results to project teams.
- Act as a dynamic and collaborative team member within our interdisciplinary research group.
What you’ll need to be successful:
- MS with 5-8+ years or BS with 7-10+ years of industry experience in biochemistry, assay development, high-throughput screening, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with protein biochemistry, assay development and screening are required.
- Experience with cell biology and/or DMPK workflows are preferred.
- Experience with automation, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry workflows are preferred.
- Demonstrated creativity, resourcefulness, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
- A keen interest in and desire to learn more about the drug discovery and development process.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and a personality characterized by risk-taking, positivity, leadership, adaptability, adventurousness, and enthusiasm for building a pioneering company and working in a dynamic, goal- and performance-oriented team environment.
