We are seeking an experienced Java/JVM Engineer who is passionate about building high-performance software and scalable data solutions. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining robust data pipelines and APIs that deliver real-time ecommerce performance metrics. You will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and deliver software that transforms terabytes of data into actionable insights. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement high-performance data pipelines and APIs to deliver accurate, hourly ecommerce performance metrics. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, document, and prioritize requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals. 
  • Uphold and advocate for the best software development practices, ensuring high standards of quality and reliability. 
  • Proactively monitor software performance and health, utilizing metrics to identify and implement improvements. 

Who you are: 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Java or other JVM languages, and Spring. 
  • Strong experience with SQL databases and developing RESTful APIs. 
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, adjusting to changing priorities. 
  • Proficiency with AWS cloud services (EKS, S3, Lambda, etc.). 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and initiative to resolve complex use cases. 
  • You’ve worked closely in teams of ~5 engineers before, solving hard problems collaboratively, and working tightly with your immediate peers as well as across teams.  
  • Strong experience with algorithms, data structures, and building systems that process terabytes of data.  
  • You are comfortable navigating vague problems and creating clarity from uncertainty and communicating it clearly to your peers.  
  • We believe in taking ownership from start to end. You pride yourself on your ability to take complex problems and iterate on them until you find a simple solution. 

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with Python and Apache Spark. 
  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.

The Interview Process:

Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
 
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
