Flight Itinerary (About The Role)
We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team and develop software systems, and automated solutions for provisioning and maintaining the infrastructure. The Cloud Platforms Engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the automated infrastructure for our cloud platforms. This includes provisioning, configuration, and monitoring of cloud resources using Terraform. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. They will also have a strong background in DevOps practices such as CI/CD and automation.
The responsibilities include monitoring computer systems and building alerts for various operational issues that computer systems and services can experience. At FLYR, this will entail various pipeline services such as, but not limited to data ingestion, machine learning, web applications, etc. You will work with our engineering teams to ensure our organization can continue to deliver products and services in our cloud infrastructure environment using concepts like Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). SLOs and SLAs will form the basis for incident management at FLYR and for our customers.
What Your Journey Will Look Like (Responsibilities)
- Lead critical platform initiatives and ensure on-time delivery with the best quality.
- Mentor senior platform engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of excellence.
- Build technical roadmap for developer platform projects and scalability requirements.
- Design and build scalable and reliable systems on public clouds.
- Implement best practices for infrastructure management, monitoring, and automation to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Build CI/CD pipelines and re-usable infrastructure-as-code to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of large systems on GCP.
- Help automate and streamline operations and processes.
- Collaborate with Software Development teams to build internal tools and infrastructure, ensuring smooth deployment and operations
- Communicate status and risks to the engineering teams and senior engineering managers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments.
What To Pack For This Trip (Qualifications)
- Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, with a minimum of 3+ years focused on Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
- 2+ years of experience leading and shipping large-scale projects as an engineer or tech lead, demonstrating strong technical leadership and collaborative skills working with experienced engineers.
- Deep understanding of developer needs and a passion for building solutions that improve developer experience.
- Experience in Kubernetes, with a strong background in administration.
- Strong knowledge of GCP, certification preferred. AWS is desirable.
- Significant experience writing Terraform configurations and modules. Proficient in translating designs into fully developed Terraform code.
- Experience in DevOps and GitOps models with infra-as-code, config-as-code, policy-as-code, etc.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security.
- Experience in enterprise-scale environments, building highly available IaaS and PaaS solutions.
- Understanding of landing zones, cloud-native security, monitoring and logging tools, and Well-Architected Framework principles.
- Experience with containers-related technologies and CICD tools - Circle CI, Argo CD, pipelines, container repos, etc.
- Experience in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, and Java.
- Proficient in at least one scripting language (i.e. Bash, Python).
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration skills, and ability to work in a global team.
