The Job

Flo is looking for a Content Lead for our Flo for Partners team, brimming with innovative content ideas plus the passion and skill needed to lead a team towards a vision.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team of content, product, visual, medical and analytical pros tasked with driving repeat engagement with our app, so an ability to listen and learn as well as lead and inspire, is a must.

Expert at knowing what people want when they come to Flo, and then driving your team to deliver it, is what we’re after. Whether you already work in content for a product-led company or app, or you’re keen to transfer your content leadership skills to something new, this role provides an exciting opportunity for you to influence how the world’s couples get more in sync.

Your Experience

Must have:

  • A CV that includes at least one previous content leadership role - be that at a project level, or something more senior. You know how to inspire and motivate a team of content creators to produce their best work, quickly in an often high-pressured environment. The team you’ll be leading is a talent-rich, ambitious bunch - you’ll need to know how to harness that ambition to the business’s best effect, and grow people into roles that will satisfy them and help us retain that talent.
  • You also understand that great ideas and a talent-rich team are only half the battle; you also know it takes a lot of skilful planning and artful diplomacy to get those great ideas built, scaled and released, and you know how to do just that.
  • A working knowledge of how content creation sits in the context of a wider working business. You should be comfortable and competent at pitching content ideas that align with, and deliver on, the company’s objectives, be able to explain how your ideas will deliver, and be ready and willing to pivot on a dime should the business need you to.
  • An ability to lead and drive creative projects that involve a lot of different disciplines, from visual designers to content designers to product designers — taking into account everyone’s perspectives and contributions, formulating a path forward, and communicating that path to senior stakeholders.
  • An ability to confidently organise, lead, and facilitate sessions and presentations related to all aspects of content planning, ideation, and production.
  • A portfolio of highly-engaging multi-format content (written, audio, video, infographic), including short-form / social media content that has virality written all over it. You’re also highly experienced at delivering written health content that oozes medical credibility while maintaining its must-click status. You know where to go to source the best medical info and can turn medical jargon into easy-to-understand copy in a heartbeat.
  • A contacts book filled with the best freelance video script writers, and future senior content editors. You know that a great Lead is only as great as the team they Lead and you know how to build one.
  • A data-driven mindset that knows how to turn content analytics into content ideas, with the know-how to dispassionately review the performance of what you create – as well as plan improvements.
  • A passion for leading and contributing to active, enthusiastic ideation sessions, as well as being skilled at training up teams to deliver them.
  • You should be confident in managing complex content projects end-to-end, and mentoring others to do the same. You should be comfortable keeping tabs on a variety of projects at once and keeping calm when there’s a lot going on.
  • A growth mindset. We need people willing to give and receive constructive feedback – and act on it. You should be open to spotting gaps in your knowledge and skills and be excited to close them, with support.
  • Proactivity. You should be eager to deputise for your manager - the Director of Content and Creative - when needed. You’ll also be expected to spot opportunities for content or process improvements, pitching them with clear rationale, and helping to get them up and running.
  • You have a strong understanding of the difference between app content and other mediums (e.g. web, print etc).

Nice to have:

  • Having worked on content in a product company, especially an app.
  • A track record of having produced sex and relationships content.
  • Experience working in a company that uses Agile methodology.
  • Having worked in a start-up environment.
  • Experience using Looker, Jira, Figma, Miro, and/or Contentful.

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of content creators in concepting, delivering and scaling content for our couples audience.
  • The metrics of that content - our business sets ambitious goals and your job is to ensure your team’s content delivers on them.
  • Ensuring your team creates release-ready content that passes our editorial, medical, and legal checks and delivers on our users’ needs.
  • Checking the performance/business impact of the content you create and suggesting and planning improvements.
  • Presenting your work and learnings to the wider / other teams.
  • Running ideation sessions and workshops, where appropriate, to knowledge/skill share with other content creators.
  • Developing a first-class roster of freelance content creators who are excellent at what they do and really ‘get’ Flo's mission.

Your targets will be:

  • Hitting delivery goals and metrics targets with your team
  • Suggesting content innovations that drive wider audience acquisition, deeper audience engagement and slicker processes for making that happen
  • Creating a positive, honest, curious and collaborative environment within the team.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
