The Manager of Accounting oversees critical aspects of our accounting team, including accounts payable and financial reporting, while also managing key components of the month-end process to ensure accurate and timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

What you'll get the opportunity to do:

Manage monthly reporting and the financial statement close process:

  • Prepare and review reconciliations required to close the financial records on a monthly and quarterly basis. 
  • Work with the team to ensure we meet critical deadlines and report accurate and timely financial statements monthly
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and support in year-end audit
  • Supports the team with any internal/external inquiries, special reporting requests, or special projects as they arise, and identifies causes for issues and proposes corrective measures

Manage and Oversee AP and OPEX functions:

  • Oversee and support month-end operating expense accruals, including payroll
  • Review  operating expenses monthly and work closely with the FP&A team to ensure accuracy 
  • Manage and support AP function and assist in the preparation of payment runs
  • Support in processing employee expense reports and managing credit cards

People Management & Process Improvement:

  • Continuously improves the operations by evaluating processes, policies, and workflow and proactively identifies opportunities to refine processes and develops a plan for implementation for new or refined improvements
  • Coaches all team members and understands the needs of all team members to ensure high performance in current role and growth opportunities, while assessing capacity to ensure appropriate distribution of work and proposes solutions

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting experience across multiple accounting functions
  • 1+ years of experience with people management
  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA or CGA)
  • Strong working knowledge of financial statement preparation and corporate taxes
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to both lead and work within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail in order to research and escalate issues.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines
  • US GAAP knowledge an asset
