The opportunity:
Join a fast-paced, globally connected Payroll Team that plays a critical role in ensuring seamless payroll operations across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. As a key strategic partner, we collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams across our offices in San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, China, Hong Kong, and Amsterdam.
We are looking for a detail-driven and proactive Payroll Accountant to help drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll-related processes. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to tackle complex payroll challenges, address urgent inquiries, and optimize workflows while ensuring smooth payroll execution across multiple countries. You will:
- Process the biweekly US and Canadian payrolls in Workday/Payworks including administration & calculation, employer tax compliance, leave management, calculating final termination pay, etc.
- Accurately process off-cycle payrolls (stock, final, bonus, commission, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to global payroll, ensuring superior attention to detail and critical evaluation of results across multiple countries and currencies.
- Review payroll and general ledger transaction details proactively throughout the month to streamline month-end close timelines, ensuring accuracy and completeness of recorded information.
- Resolve payroll and accounting discrepancies independently and efficiently.
- Assess variable compensation and implement a systematic approach for calculating related expenses.
- Assist with the preparation and finalization of monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory filings
- Support annual financial audits, ensuring all audit requirements and inquiries are met accurately and on time.
- Streamline financial processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy, implementing best practices to optimize operations.
- Propose improvements to internal controls to mitigate risks and maintain compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and smooth information flow across the organization.
- Participate in special projects such as documenting workflows, opening new offices for payroll taxation, improving processes, and updating payroll-related forms.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, direct deposit, and general payroll questions
- Review and audit payroll information entered into Workday to ensure accurate wage processing.
- Processing and maintaining payroll garnishments, tax corrections and year end filings
You should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or human resources
- 3-5 years of payroll processing experience
- Experience in processing large payrolls (2000+ employees)
- Proficiency in Workday Payroll and Excel (VLOOKUP & pivot tables)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong administrative skills, including strict attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work well in teams to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to learn processes quickly for more efficient and effective results
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments
- Capability to problem solve using analytical and reasoning skills
- Demonstrated ability to hold information confidential with excellent judgment

The US base salary range for this position (exclusive of bonus, equity and benefits):
$82,000 - $100,000 USD
