The opportunity:

The Operations Excellence (OE) team are the captains of this rocketship growth and central to Flexport success - building the people, processes, and products needed for the future of Flexport. The team's mission is to make Flexport the best freight operator in the world. We define, build, and execute the strategy to improve operations, foster a culture of continuous improvement, shape the metrics that drive our customer experience and our performance, and we partner with our technology team to build the future operating system for global trade. 

We are looking for rockstar operations leaders to reach the next orbit. As a Senior Program Manager in our team, you will lead the highest-impact programs and projects in the company. You will work on issues spanning from understanding what drives value for our customers to fixing operations problems at the root to setting the agenda for our engineering team. You will work on global projects spanning multiple teams and business units, and interact with stakeholders on all levels and across the whole company. In your role, you will design the work experience for Flexporters for the years to come.

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the end-to-end business success of Flexport in establishing Center of Excellence for global operations via effective program management.
  • Define and implement global operation strategy together with global Flexport leaders across multiple teams, break them down into "doable chunks", and execute successfully
  • Source and onboard the most suitable business partners and vendors via running RFPs.
  • Audit and ensure all operational SOPs are streamlined and aligned cross functions and regions. 
  • Accountable for the business results and continuously identifying gaps and develop innovative and creative solutions to improve vendors’ performance
  • Establish metrics, goal settings and globally standardized performance management system for all operation workflows, including but not limited to dashboards, regular business review, standard-up, quality assurance) 
  • Collaborate with Tech team to develop product roadmap for automation and workflow optimization
  • Keep the SOPs and other business knowledge well maintained and stakeholders enabled.
  • Drive negotiations with vendors on rates, terms, profit sharing, invoicing, technology adoption and more
  • Administrate existing contracts and account payables

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years in consulting, business operations or project management, preferably in the logistics or software development industry or in a fast growing tech startup
  • 4+ years of professional experience in logistics or supply chain, including experience in P&L management and vendor/client/partner management
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, ideally in a technical field (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Physics)
  • Entrepreneurships and result driven with a GSD mindset
  • Passionate about resolving problems with Curiosity, creativity and great problem solving skills
  • Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it.
  • Program management skills (set goals, manage delivery, create and measure impact)
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to handle data effectively; system-oriented thinking and end-to-end view of processes
  • Excel at communicating and managing stakeholder relationships, negotiating to find win-win solutions, and proven ability to connect at multiple levels in an organization and with external parties
  • A "compliance first" attitude to keep our regulators happy and enthusiastic about Flexport since we operate in a heavily regulated industry. 
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin).
