Flexport is looking for Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to help Flexport establish itself as the most trusted company in the global trade ecosystem. Our SREs are responsible for creating a culture of reliability through the proactive development of services that make our technology teams do their jobs better. We focus on Flexport’s internally developed, user-facing services and other production systems to ensure that they run smoothly and that we can quickly resolve disruptions.

What you’ll do:

  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
  • Advise product teams in system design, platform management, and capacity planning.
  • Design, implement, and maintain resilient deployment capabilities.
  • Improve upon change management processes to limit the impact of bad changes, quickly and accurately detect problems, and ensure safe roll-back and recovery.
  • Establish and maintain monitoring capabilities that track service availability, capacity, and performance across our production environments.
  • Develop SLOs in partnership with product and engineering teams to influence velocity and service reliability.
  • Participate in the incident management program and oncall rotations to continuously assess operational state, identify opportunities for improvements that reduce or eliminate toil.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in computing, distributed systems, storage, or networking - preferably with a strong software development background.
  • Proficiency in languages such as Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, or Ruby with hands-on experience debugging and optimizing code.
  • Deep expertise with developer/devops tooling including source code/artifacts management, CI and CD pipelines, and configuration automation with Infrastructure as Code.
  • Production-level experience with Kubernetes, and container-based infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS. Experience with Azure and GCP a plus.
  • Excellence in problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

 

Where you’ll work:

Our flagship office is on Market Street in San Francisco, but we also have engineering teams working out of our locations in Chicago and Bellevue. Remote work is also possible from CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, NJ, NY, OR, PA, TX, VA, WA. As a truly global company, we don’t let geography slow us down. We rotate hack-a-thons and move Flexporters all around the world.
