The Opportunity:

As a result of our global expansion, we're looking to hire a Customs Network Associate as part of our customs network team. This role will work in a cross-functional environment, partnering closely with the customs organization, data services, the partner team and other teams across the company to achieve our shared goals. You’ll get substantial leadership exposure, focus on the highest priority business issues, and be plugged into every facet of the business.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop an understanding of local APAC customs to be a trusted advisor to the rest of the company
  • Take ownership of the service design for our APAC customs partner network
  • Assist in performance management of the partners Flexport uses for import customs in APAC
  • Drive continuous performance improvement within customs partner operations through digital adoption, process improvement, and ongoing enablement
  • Evaluate current partners and build out missing capabilities, especially in China and Australia
  • Manage relationship with customs-only import partners in freight-insourced countries
  • Resolve mismatches between pre-alert and clearance data, codifying improvements into process and product
  • Lead customs inhousing projects (e.g. Hong Kong, Singapore)
  • Support key account operations (QBRs, reporting, additional audits), as well as business development and RFPs
  • Lead the roll-out of Lululemon’s customs business in APAC
  • Define and improve performance metric standards (KPIs, SLAs)
  • Continuously identify gaps and develop solutions focused on process standardization for both operations team and partners
  • Lead customs pricing, invoicing and credit risk initiatives for APAC

What you’ll need:

  • Proven ability to thrive in a multicultural environment, and deeply understand differences of doing business in different regions
  • Fluent in one Asian language (preferably Mandarin) besides English
  • Thorough understanding of the organization, of our operational processes, and of differences between our operations in different regions
  • A basic understanding of customs procedures and processes is a plus
  • Strong self-starter, who enjoys owning a problem and driving towards solutions
  • Strategic vision and ground floor execution
  • Strong communicator with ability to build relationships with external companies
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various project elements simultaneously
  • Strong influencing skills to impact the work of different departments
